Spec Applications?

A random question, but has anyone ever been successful at gaining employment as a Train Driver from a speculative email?

I have emailed most TOCs informing them I have passed all the psychometric assessments with FGW asking if they have any vacancies, however I've never heard anything back yet.

Just wondering if TOCs actually consider spec emails?

Well I phoned up swt for an application from even though thet were not advertising for drivers, I start next month. I also had not taken ant of the tests either. Hope it helps. :D

I should add, they accept speculative from qualified mainline drivers only.
