Hail All!
Here's one for all of the Engineers amongst us. Basically, a photo or diagram of a train component is posted here, and other users have to correctly identify at least two of the following three pieces of information relating to that component to "obtain the token" and then post their own component for identification. 8)

• The name of the component itself,
• The class of rolling stock that the component is taken from, and
• Whereabouts on that vehicle the component is normally to be found.

To prevent "game breakers" from occurring, I'll chuck a few guidelines in place to ensure that it doesn't turn into a Dead thread.

1. Posted components must be unique enough to be associated with that specific class of train, (So no posting individual nuts and bolts, please! )
2. Graphical editing may be used to make the component in question easier to see (Such as by removing surrounding objects, or adding an arrow to show which part is to be identified) but may not be used to obscure or ambiguate the component itself,
3. Individual components or component assemblies may be posted, again provided that they can be associated with a specific class of rolling stock.
4. Components may be taken from any recognised BR rolling stock including locos, MUs, carriages, freight wagons etc.
5. To keep the game flowing: If a component still isn't identified three days after being posted, the poster should identify the problem component. After this, they may either:
   • Post another component for identification, or
   • Pass the "token" (Thread control) over to someone else so that they may have a go.

Assuming that ye mean a stabilizing or yaw linkage, then no. It does connect to something on certain bogies in a way, though...

You're almost there...It is a driveshaft, but this is a special type and design of driveshaft that has a specific name...And it is that name that I am looking for here. 8)
(Remember that I'm also looking for what class of train this comes from, and where in the train ye would normally expect to find this part. )

Clue 2: Have a careful thought about the previous hint that I posted yesterday. Now would I really be very unhappy about complete vehicle immobilisation/failure if it was a type of vehicle that one could find and bash anywhere? Nay...I wouldn't - However, this vehicle is truly one of a kind...

Considering the "Death wouldn't be a happy bunny" and that you have a penchant for APTs, I'd say it comes from a Class 370 APT-P?

Aye...The train that this part comes from is a Class 370 APT-P. Although - Given my obvious rolling-stock preferances - Id've thought that everyone would've figured that out immediateley!

Anyhow...I'm still looking for the proper name of the part (It's a driveshaft...But what kind of shaft? ) and where on the vehicle it would be found.

It's not directly related to the tilt system, but the fact that the train tilts is a very important consideration in it's design.

As the game has been running for three days now and seems to have become a little slow, I'm going to post the details here and pass control of the game to the first person who wants to have a go at posting a part. 8)

• Train class and name: Class 370 APT-P.
• Component location: Power car, between power car bogey and traction motor.
• Component name: Cardan shaft, Cardan drive-shaft.
  A type of shaft that can extend or contract as necessary, allowing the distance between ends to vary during operation. This was a necessary component on the APT-P as the traction motors were mounted inside the tilting body of the train, but drove non-tilting axles mounted on the bogey.

Definately a main air resevoir pipe, its not a 156 though, atleast it doesn't look like one, nor do I think it is any of the other sprinters, body work doesn't right. So what else has those snow ploughs, a corridor connection and auto couplers?
