Southport Platform Extensions

Are the extensions to platforms 2 & 3 at Souhport complete yet?
Seems to have been going on for months - first heard It was going to happen back in 2022 so the platforms could accommodate 2 x 4 car class 777's.

777's are staying well clear of the new buffer stops and no extra space has been gained as the buffer stops occupy the extra platform length gained!!!

Anyone able to explain what is going on ? Can platforms 2 & 3 now take 2 x 4 car 777's and will 8 car trains start runninng on the Southport line soon?

You'd imagine it's just standard driving practice to stop away from the buffers unless you absolutely have to. I can't imagine there's anything nefarious about it. If it's an 8 car it'll be up there.
