Southern Vectis Fare Query

Not sure first of all if this is in the right forum or whether it should be under Fares Advice.

My question is this. I know Southern Vectis offer through fares across the IOW but their site doesn't give prices, except for day tickets or individual routes. I would like to know how much it would be from Shanklin Station to Yarmouth, using routes 3 and 7, changing in Newport and within the 3 hours timescale?

This probably is not the right place. Single and Return fares are often notoriously difficult to obtain from a bus operator's website.

They operate Mon-Fri 08:00-18:30 on both.

To be fair to Southern Vectis, their website does give the price of single fares https://www.islandbuses.info/find-my-fare on their direct routes (do they do returns). The problem the OP has is that it doesn't give details of through fares other than to say they exist.

A single fare from Shanklin to Newport is £4.50 and a single fare from Newport to Yarmouth is £4.50. A day rover is £10. The OP's question is simply how much discount (if any) they will get on a through ticket relative to buying single tickets on both buses.

I don't know if speed of journey is a factor here but the 3 goes from Shanklin Train Station to the 'bus station' and then up and down hill to Vetnor and then up to Newport. The journey taking about 65/70 minutes.

The number 2, which also starts from Ryde, takes a slightly different route between Sandown and Shanklin and avoids the train station, but calls at the bus station and then goes to Newport via Godshill.

Assuming no mobility issues it's about a 4/5 minute walk (0.2 miles per google maps) between the 2 stations.

There is a large Coop supermarket at the bus station, if supplies are needed.There is a
fish & chip shop that cooks in beef dripping nearby and on the route of the 3 and just around the corner from a bus stop for the 2. It will also cook for vegetarians and gluten free if notice given.

Both legs of the journey, which ever route is taken is £4.50. Sorry cannot say how much of a discount there is for a through journey. If the OP does find an answer perhaps he could say what it was, for future reference.

As an after thought not sure how reliable the train service is between Ryde and Shanklin at the moment.
