Hi all,

I note that the deadline for this is Tuesday night.

Are these jobs likely to close early due to a high number of applications for example?

I intend to submit mine tomorrow evening, I just hope it'll still be open for submission.

You want to take that risk?

I'm confused! I'm sure this was meant to close on Tuesday night just passed. However when I go to my Southern job account it now says the position expires on the 1st April 2018 at 23:45. It doesn't show up on the main job list if you try and look for it though. I wonder if there is a gremlin in the system....

Haha waiting doesn't bother me now. Just spent 12 months waiting for a start date at another TOC only for them to withdraw the job offer.

WTF!! Did they say why?

It's a long story but basically it came down to there being no vacancies until 2020 at the earliest due to low driver turnover. I'm back to square one but I've passed the OPC psychometric tests to enhanced standards. I'm hoping I can get through the application stage and through to the DMI, obviously unless Southern/GTR undertake extra tests.

I had a similar experience to FManc - applied for SR coastal routes a year ago, passed assessment centre in the autumn, told to expect an interview this Feb. Instead got an e-mail saying the number of current and anticipated vacancies was lower than originally expected so my application was going no further.

I applied on 24th March for the recent Metro vacancy, and the website worked fine for me. I haven't had a rejection yet, but I'm now having doubts thanks to earlier posts in this thread!
The driver depots thread and some other source I found say there's a SR depot at Horsham, which is also shown as the southern extent of Metro routes on the SR route map. It's the closest point of the Metro network to me, and the only possible depot of which I'm within 1 hour.
However, according to this thread there's no depot there, or at least not a Metro depot......

No rejection yet here either - how long does the 1st sift through applications usually take? Thanks

Anywhere from weeks to months. As horrible as it is, just sit tight and wait for a reply either rejection or invite to assessment!!!!

Does anyone know if Southern do any extra psychometric tests such as the DFFT etc. etc.

DFFT was part of the assessment I did for Southern in the autumn (I thought it was part of the standard assessment, hadn't heard it was extra)

Ah cheers for that. Yeah I don't think the DFFT is part of the standard assessment. I didn't have to do it when I did my tests - I think they're an extra TOCs can use.

That's correct, the dfft is not part of the national assessment It's a TOC specific test. The TOCs that have it GTR, CROSSRAIL, WEST MIDLANDS, ARRIVA RAIL LONDON.

Does that mean that having passed an asessment including DFFT makes it an 'enhanced pass'? If not, what is an enhanced pass please?

Not as such no. So there's a industry wide standard you have to reach to pass the tests, no matter which TOC you've applied to. However on top of this, TOCs can also specify their own higher 'enhanced' benchmark to pass. Each TOC can set this enhanced pass at a different level so it kinda gets confusing at that stage as what's enhanced for one TOC might not be for another.

Thanks. So despite passing assessment to the national (minimum) standard and to the GTR standard I might still have to sit assessment if applying for example to SWR or FGW. Another reason not to pay for assessement with DB Shenker (except I suppose to demonstrate motivation/for practice/to make your CV better - if you pass that is!)

I passed GB, Tea-Occ, DFFT, Trp 1&2, WAFV, ATAVT & 2 hand to arriva standard. I hope they meet or exceed the southern standard.

Possibly yeah. I don't know if SWR or FGW use just the national benchmark or their own enhanced one. They would look at each test individually and just get you to re-sit any that aren't up to their standard if they did use enhanced.

I don't even know what GTR/Southern use to be honest - the national or enhanced pass.

I passed all tests to enhanced standard at one TOC only to have to resit one of the tests to Bring that score up with another Toc. Ha ha. It's ridiculous..just have one standard and make it high so all companies know they're getting the highest performing candidates. Sigh

Yeah I do agree with you, it just makes it loads more complicated than it needs to be. I was actually reading in another thread that GTR have actually lowered their test standards from enhanced to just national passes recently.

Well it seems like at least one person has heard back from Southern about going through to assessment centre going by a new thread started earlier today.

I got through to the assessment but as I’ve done the test already. I don’t need to retake so I gotta wait for an interview now.
