Can they only be collected from Southern operated station TVM's or can they now be collected from any TVM?

You used to only be able to buy the Daysave from a seperate Southern website, now they are on the main journey planner.

I have bought one, selected TOD from Milton Keynes (which is served by Southern but is not a Southern station). My booking was accepted, collection ref issued, card charged etc but am I stuffed for retrieving the ticket from the TVM's at Milton Keynes (or Stoke-on-Trent where I shall commence my journey)?

Having read previous threads on the issue, I believe the ticket may print weirdly, with an out and return portion to destination any southern train? The one time I used daysave, the ticket was posted to me, so I didn't experience the issue personally.

Yes, with non-Southern and a few Southern machines, they print as out and return portions with the destination "Any Southern Train".

Even when it comes to Southern stations, printing it can be a bit of a hassle. I collected from Brighton once and it printed normally but from Bexhill it printed as out and return portions.

It's not a big thing if it does, they're still perfectly valid, but every member of Southern staff I've encountered has advised me to use the manual gates rather than the barriers, since there's apparently a risk of the barrier eating it.

Hope you have a lovely journey. :D

Issue resolved.:D

Contrary to the (perhaps out of date) Southern instructions, I collected my tickets today from a non-Southern TVM - Virgin at Stoke-on-Trent as it happens.

1 ticket printed - Between Brighton* (as I specified on booking) & any southn train. Route - Southern only.

The interesting point was the on screen 'out' and 'return' restrictions which stated - valid on any service operated by GNER! If only I had a mobile phone with a camera on - I could have tried that from Edinburgh! ;)
