Southern new livery?

I've been hearing that due to this govia (name right?) franchise Southern, FCC and WAGN will be merging. Will this mean a new livery for southern trains? I mean the 365s are already been refurbished/repainted. WHat about 377s, 455s, 171s 317s and 321s? Will they be refurbished/repainted or just have a TOC name stuck to the exterior?
I'm hopefully getting work experience at Sutton (London) station next year and they were saying this. I might ask staff about this when I return from Sunderland in September.

No, the Southern brand will be retained as is, because it (and Gatwick Express) are strong brands with a clear visual identity and are well-known and liked.

Ahhh so pleased at this news. Southern are my favourite operator, and now they're gonna be taking me all the way to St Neots. Happy days!

Although I did here they wanted to separate the TL and existing Southern routes, I'd just go for one mega Southern franchise.

It's the ex-FCC 377s that will be running to St Neots, in Great Northern livery I'm afraid. I believe the 387s will be transferring south of London to duties such as Gatwick Express after their couple of years on Thameslink.

The Gat-Ex 387s are a separate order to the already commuted thameslink units.

The 387s were always meant to be sub-leased to the TSGN franchise, just because govia won TSGN doesn't mean things are any different. It's not the southern livery, it's probably best described as debranded southern. The stripe is likely to be a change in the original spec following govia winning TSGN and will likely incorporate a web address and the thameslink logo

Actually you're very wrong there as ALL indications from Govia point to such stock being used on the Kings Lynns/Cambridge Expresses with other Cambridge services being operated by Class 700s as quoted by Govia Great Northern 'Outer Suburban' factsheet.

King’s Lynn / Cambridge Express services to King’s Cross will see existing mid-life Class 365 rolling stock replaced by newer, air-conditioned Class 377s during 2016.

The older class 317s and 321s (which are mostly used in the peaks to provide extra capacity) will be replaced during 2016.

Most other Cambridge and Peterborough services will see new Class 700s phased in between 2016 and 2018.

The 377s in short WON'T be serving St Neots but don't worry you've got these lovely new Class 700s instead!

It wouldn't surprise me that come July 2015 we saw the Southern and Gatwick Express logos changed to the same ones as being used by Great Northern and Thameslink even if the existing liveries remain.

Changing a logo isn't really changing a brand. I mean Midland Mainline did it, even First TPX and Southeastern have changed theirs slightly recently. Changing the logo isn't as major as when Southern renamed from South Central. If they wanted a uniform identity then changing the logo makes perfect sense. I too think it might change come 2015. Plenty of companies say they wont do something then end up doing it anyway.

I can't see it happening... like people have said the Southern Brand is well known and the Logo is well recognised..

Plus the new logos are boring... there I said it :P
