Hi all.
I've recently passed all the assessments for trainee driver at southern railway.
And have been told the next stage is an interview with the depot management.
My question is does anyone know how long it will be for an interview and what I'm best studying for interview materials.

Many thanks

Hi what depot is this for and when did you apply? Just wanted to see if there is already a thread discussing this already

DMI interview i thought was the easiest part, no stress, just a chat, it's for them to see if you are the right person for the role. They will ask you some "tell me a time" questions, they just want to see how you'd react in these scenarios, there's no right or wrong answers per say (just remember its a safety critical job) And they will ask you what you know about the company, when I did mine I knew alot anyways but I just jumped on Wikipedia and did a quick read up.

Apart from that it's a chat, they will tell you what they expect of you through the training etc and what the role is like ie shifts etc.

It's the easiest part of the whole process so don't sweat it.

There may be a bit more insight to the DMI in the assessments section.

Long shot but I was part of the group who did their psychometrics in March this year for Southern. Anyone heard back about the DMI?

I did mine on 9th April mate and I've not heard anything yet. I'm told from a member of southern staff it could be a few months.
I'm hoping it will be sooner

I'm not sure how many positions are available. Hopefully we will both get one lol. Do you have any ideas what they may ask.

Cheers mate

Good luck both on your interviews this week.
I've just booked mine for 19th June. I thought it would be a chosen depot but having to go back to go ahead house for it.

Let me know how you get on

Yeah barnham mate and tes I've done it.
It's nothing to worry about just loads of questions asking different things and you have to pick if you agree or disagree

Hi I'm a Barnham trainee, I did all interviews etc at go-ahead house. I don't think they do any interviews at depots. Good luck

Your doing it at Barnham?? How odd, they usualy do it all at go-ahead.

Yes sure, so I thought it was the most relaxed part of the process, mostly it's them explaining the wages, shift hours, what it's like working as a driver etc etc basically so you know what demands to expect and what to expect during training, ie you can't take time off etc etc to make sure your fine with that before getting the job. They will also give you chance to ask questions etc.

Also they will ask you about yourself, why you want to do the job, why GTR, and than they will ask you what you know about the company. I knew a fair bit anyways but I looked up GTR and who own them the routes they cover etc.

They will also ask you a few "tell me a time when" questions, so they will give you a scenario and just want you to explain what you did how you did it etc I think its more them getting an idea of the type of person you are so it's not a stressful interview by any means just structure your answers well and I'm sure you will be fine.

I'm pretty sure that was about it, it was about 90 min and mostly just a chat realy. Mine was nearly a year ago though so bare that in mind.

All id say is remember its a safety critical job, safety orientated is the main thing when answering.

Good luck

That's good to know. Thank you. How are you finding the training?
Realy good, intense at times but overall realy good fair bit of home studying to do aswell. But you do get rostered x2 1 week holidays during the 5 months driving school which breaks it up well.

What kind of things did they ask or you have to give examples for?
Fingers crossed you passed to the next stage

How did your interview go?
Hey! I felt like it went well, I was told it’ll take around a week for my result. I know that the longer time passes, the worse I’ll feel about how I did haha
