Southern DaySave

Sorry for being daft, but I can't get the Southern website to offer me a daysave. On the 22nd February, I'm doing Balham - Littlehampton - Lewes - Littlehampton - Balham. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

A search for a return trip and then clicking the "DaySave" link at the top worked for me.

Yes the key seems to be asking for a return journey, I struggled for ages trying to get it to offer me a ticket until I tried that!

To obtain tickets you need to enter any two stations on the Southern network for example Ore to Oxted, on the next screen select "Daysave" at the top of the page, "Daysave" prices are then displayed. The tickets are valid across the whole Southern network irrespective of the stations entered.

The three options available provide another good example of Southern's inconsistent ticket naming conventions:

Southern Off-Peak DaySave
DaySave Peak
DaySave Weekly

It would be so logical to have "Southern" in all the ticket names, especially in view of the restriction to their services.

I also can't help feeling that a DaySave Weekly is really a WeeklySave? Perhaps they could offer a WeeklySave Monthly and a MonthlySave Annual ?!!

Add in the Southern Downlander which is either a South Coast Downloader or Network Downloader.

A bit more confusion (although it makes me confused, what is the difference between a Daysave and Network Downloader other than the time required to book?)

Off the top of my head, validity on local buses in the south downs is one that stands out.

The Downlander offers travel on various buses in the South Downs area (rather broadly considered!): principally the Brighton & Hove 12/12A/13X between Brighton and Eastbourne, various East Sussex Council "Rider" routes in the Seaford area, and the Cuckmere Community Buses which operate various routes centred on Berwick station. http://www.southernrailwaytickets.com/main.php?page_id=281 has general details and http://www.southernrailwaytickets.com/main.php?page_id=293 has in-depth bus info. The South Coast Downlander gives train travel up to Christ's Hospital and Gatwick, and everywhere south of there. The All Network one covers the whole Southern network. The e-Tickets, incidentally, are rather attractive full-colour A4 printouts.
