I have on a few occasions made use of the Souther DaySave Ticket, which even with the price increase is fantastic vaue at only £12 for a whole day off peak travel on all Southern trains.

In April I am staying with friends in Croydon and I m considering getting a DaySave Weekly Ticket, which at only £80 for 7 days unlimited travel on Southern trains is even better value as it can also be used at peak times. Not only will I be able to do a lot of exploring along the south coast it will also be useful for trips into London in the evenings and cut down on the cost of travel using my Oyster Card.

However, there is one question I wanted to ask about a sentence in the terms and conditions that I found confusing.

The details for the DaySave Weekly are as follows:

The DaySave Weekly ticket is available for unlimited travel on Southern services at anytime and is valid for seven days from the start date shown on the ticket. This ticket is only available online and must be purchased at least 7 days in advance (14 days during some seasonal holiday periods). DaySave is only valid on the Southern network.

•DaySave Weekly costs just £80 per adult
•No photocard is required
•DaySave Weekly is only available online and must be purchased a minimum of 7 days before travel
DaySave Weekly can be used as follows:

•Anytime Monday to Sunday including Bank Holidays
•No child discounts available
•No railcard discounts available
•Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded
•The ticket is valid for seven days
Please note that you cannot use the services of any other Train Operator with this ticket.

This information gives me the impression that the ticket is valid for a full 7 consecutive days unlimited travel. What does the following sentence mean in the terms and Conditions?

•DaySave Weekly can be used as follows:
- Anytime Monday to Sunday including Bank Holidays
- All 5 tickets must me bought at once
- No Child discounts available
- The ticket is valid for seven days

What does it mean by all 5 tickets? Surely it is just one ticket for the whole 7 days. Why the number 5?

Looks like someone has copied the DaySave Flexi T&Cs and failed to edit them properly.

I had a feeling that may be the case. Just wanted to check.
It does seem very good value for a 7 day ticket that is even valid at peak times.

I have now got one of these booked for Easter.
One question I would like to ask.
Are these tickets accepted at ticket barriers or would I be best not to try.

Same advice applies to all rovers / rangers / seasons.

Hold on to your ticket. It can be a bit of a bitch to try get them back at some stations if swallowed.

Why would anyone buy a season ticket from, say, Worthing to London, if you can buy these tickets?

Flexibility to use on other operators? For example, to use on FCC between Brighton and London

If they need Peak travel then a Season ticket will probably cost less than £30 per day?
No, Halsebee/this thread is talking about the DaySave weekly which costs £80 and is valid at any time. In contrast a Worthing to London weekly season is £98.00, and a monthly is £376.40.

I was thinking exactly the same thing when I first read about this ticket.

Will be in Southern's interests to promote these tickets though. They'll get 100% revenue for this, but only a lower percentage for seasons.

Ah, my mistake, I presumed the weekly was off-peak.

My experience (limited) is that the day ones don't work the barriers
