Southern DaySave Changes?

Does anyone know if changes have been made to Southern's DaySave tickets? The website here has not changed since last year, it still says the following under 'Off-Peak DaySave':

The DaySave ticket is an off-peak pass available for unlimited travel on Southern services on the date shown on the ticket. This ticket is only available online, and is only valid on the Southern network. Not valid on Gatwick Express.

• DaySave costs just £15 per adult, or in a group (valid for a minimum of three and maximum of four passengers, who must travel together) DaySave costs just £30.
  
• Accompanied children travel for only £2 each (maximum 4 children per paying adult or group ticket). Southern Daysave is only available online and must be purchased 7 days before travel

But if you click the link and then try to select a journey on a Southern service it offers a £17.90 fare.



BRfares has pages that back this up too - suggesting the price of a DaySave is now £17.90. Given they were £14 a year ago this is a speedy rise in prices!

Apologies if I have missed something obvious. It seems there have been a lot of casualties at this fare rise!

Although £17.90 is still a good price for the coverage, and could be worst, they could have quietly dropped it

Just tweeted Southern, they've confirmed it and informed the web team to update the website. A steep increase.

Considering that this ticket was introduced in South Central days (2003 I think?), 79% increase in 12 years averages to just under 5% a year. Could be worse I think.

Going up by £4 in 2 years is a bit of a shock. I get the feeling that GTR want these gone! The Thameslink one is almost completely hidden now.

Good point - although I wonder where it will then be valid? If it's valid in the 'South Central' area but including Thameslink services that could do well for them. I would expect Milton Keynes validity to stay if that's their game, but what of north of Kings Cross / St Pancras I wonder?

(Interestingly I've just booked a daysave for later in the month, and for Ticket on departure it says "* Tickets are ready for collection 3 Days after booking", what does it use dial-up? )

I believe DaySave uses the "Local TOD" facility on the TVMs, rather than the National system, so has to be loaded manually.

The FCC Daysave (as was) was only available from certain Tourist Information Centres. IIRC Sandy was one of them despite the ticket not being valid on the Great Northern route!

Have GTR carried on with this ticket? There seemed to be some confusion about whether or not it was still available when the franchise changed.

I should point out that, with the amount of coverage available, the increase isn't that bad. In 2014 the WMDR went from £22.30 (in December 2013) to £23.80 in February 2014, a £1.50 increase. The WMDR area is most significantly smaller than the DaySave area, and I have yet to find out how much the WMDR is this year. Without a doubt it's gone up a fair bit again.

However I am still disappointed at the increase by £2.90 of the DaySave. At £15 it represented amazing value for money, less so at £17.90 but it'll do nicely still. A smaller increase would have been more acceptable, but if it does indeed allow use of Thameslink trains within the existing DaySave area then it'll be most welcome, and I will withdraw my complaint about the fare increase!
