Having travelled on these units a few times during the Christmas holiday, I was wondering whether the DVA is intentionally set up to simply announce the name of the station as soon as the doors open. For example, when the doors opened today at Clapham Junction, the DVA says "Clapham Junction. This train is the Southern service to...".

IIRC, the previous sub-classes have a slightly different set up?

Well, the actual visual scrolls "This is X, This is the Southern Service to..." But for some reason the Audio doesn't say "This is" at the start.

I believe this PIS update is now in operation on most 377s. Personally, I prefer the old 'This train is the Southern service to ... calling at ...', with an approaching announcement at the appropriate time. I feel as if the new one is too much.

There was a software update that changed the announcements on the 387/3s so it would say when approaching "bing bong, Basildon!" then when the doors are opened "The next station is Laindon, welcome aboard this c2c rail service to fenchurch street".

Only lasted around a month tho, now theres a bug where the train announces the service as running 1hr late.

It's overkill. Although I mostly tune out of it in the cab.

I've used 377s on the Oxted Line recently & the older versions of 377 also play this new style annoucement.

Completely agree! It's even worse when the unit feels the need to replay each announcement time and time again!

EDIT: although, I've noticed that they now have the Ore detachments at Eastbourne on the PIS. However, it didn't quite get the numbers correct for my train home yesterday (displayed front 4 terminating at EBN, rear 8 for Ore...) - not quite there yet!
