How many LM 350's do southern have left? I thought they were all gone until I saw one earlier.

As far as I'm aware Southern never had any 350's, they belong to LM & were "hired" in to cover the Milton Keynes - East Croydon service.

3. Due to reduce to 2 and then 1 very soon. It was meant to be down to 2 by the end of September, but things didn't go according to plan.

This is the railway, which is run by supermarket managers who haven't got a clue & you expect it to go to plan!

The senior managers we've got now would have difficulty with a 2 piece jigsaw!

Basically the 350s are just there due to the fact that FCC had to take on the Dual Volatage Class 377/2 (AC/DC) normally found on the Milton Keynes to East Croydon Route to cover for deliveries of thier Dual Voltage Class 377/5 (AC/DC) which are interm just been subleased to FCC by Southeastern untill 2012 I believe.

Yes, the 10:10 departure from East Croydon (12:13 from MK, 14:10 from Croydon) is now permanently a 377 again, with 206 doing the honours today.

Also today saw 350122 on an LM service to Crewe at Northampton still displaying warnings of live shoegear. Presumably this unit is back with LM permanently now?

350122 was dropped out of the pool a while back. The current 350s will stay with SN until the end of the arrangement.

FYI the diagram in question is the one that starts with a metro run around South London, hence it makes sense for a 377/2 to run it.

Spoke to a contact today. There are three class 350s daily (presume not Sundays) still on the East Croydon - Milton Keynes Circuit and one class 377. 350s are down to finish at the end of November at present, but this may change.

Southern borrowed 5 350/1 to cover for 8 377/2 for FCC where were to cover for the lack of 20+ 377/5 that Bombardier failed to deliver in order to run the Key Output Zero (KO0) timetable (well Day 1 verison anyway).

Note of the 5 borrowed 350/1, 4 were required to fill the 4 diagrams. FCC had to use the 8 377/2 in 11 diagrams. There were 6 Southeastern linked diagrams which the 377/2 filled and the last two 377/2 filled in random other diagrams. The 11 diagram was a limit placed by Network Rail to avoid the Brighton Main Line substations overloading. This limit was ended in August and now FCC have 16 diagrams.

Slowly but surely FCC have returned 5 377/2 to Southern allowing some 350 to return to LM. Currently 3 377/2 (377208/209/213) are on lease to FCC until late next month. FCC now have 18 377/5 which is enough for their 16 daily requirements. The three extra 377/2 is covering for the latest mod to correct the SDO interferance at St Pancras International from the OHLE.

As for Jamaal's comment, there is some confusing but he is right. Some 377/5 are on lease to Southeastern. This is due to the arrangements for the hire of them from Govia. Govia's Southern brand leases all 23 377/5 units to FCC for use on their Bedford-Brighton service. As the Gillingham/Ashford International/Rochester/Gillingham services can no longer termainate in the bays so the idea is to use 6 377/5 a day to cover for this so they can operate from futher north than City at the capcity they would use up terminating at City would destory the peak timetable. There is a silmar reasoning for the 319 on the route to Sevenoaks.

Now here where it gets complex. All these joint service are FCC controlled north of Blackfriars and Southeastern south. All FCC staff on the trains (only really the drivers) and the trains themselfs change hands at Blackfriars. For example a FCC driver may drive from Kentish Town to Sevenoaks on the same train. He starts off on an FCC service as an FCC driver in and FCC train. Once he gets to Blackfriars he then offically changes companies and becomes an Southeastern driver on a Southeastern hired 319 doing a Southeastern service.

Now when this happens with a 377/5, legally the 377/5 is sub-leased by FCC to Southeastern. I believe this was what Jamaal was trying to get at so techinally he's right.
