Why is it bureaucratic?

You have to fill in a form, print it out and post it to Southern. Southern then have to process the refund manually. An automatic refund would be so much easier for everyone.

Argh - now you see it, now you don't.
Just looked on TopCashBack to see if Southern Railway had come back = NO.
Looked on Quidco and it's GONE AGAIN from there :(
So looks like a false dawn over the weekend, sorry!

I too started using Southern because of the cashback offer. Now it's gone they've lost me as a customer. I've gone back to RSH who offer 2% on Quidco. This combined with their loyalty point scheme is the the best offer as far as I can see. Am I wrong?

Seems to be, that and Virgin also at 2% (but no loyalty points, but occasionally goes to 3% like this weekend). Combine with a cashback credit card to take another 0.5-1% off.

The calculation that one must make is whether the higher cashback on Quidco compared to TopCashBack makes up for the annual fee that Quidco charge. However, if Quidco does offer more cashback, then you can claim under the 'Highest Cashback Guarantee' on TopCashBack.

If we are broadening this discussion out to credit cards, then the Aqua Reward card should be mentioned as this offers 3% cashback up to £100 a year. The only problem with this card is that the typical credit limit is £500, however if you spend more you can just make additional payments over the month.

The Santander 123 credit card gives 3% cashback on TfL and TOC ticket purchases (on up to £300 spend a month).

That comes with an annual fee of £24, which is refunded for the first year if you have a 123 Santander current account, which charges a £2 per month fee. However it still may be useful if you have already earned the maximum £100 cashback with the Aqua Reward card.

I use the Santander 123 for all my rail travel - that combined with petrol means you get reliable £10 a month back which overcomes the annual fee.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards mean they can't retain your card details in order to process the refund, hence the faff.

Note that Virgin Trains does give loyalty points.

According to a topcashback representative:

I can confirm that Southern Railway will now longer be offering cashback and have been removed from the TopCashback site. This decision has been made by the merchant and at the moment the information does not suggest that there will be any future offers.

Shame. I think this is a big, but mistake by Southern. They're going to lose a ton of customers because of this.

But if their high cashback % was causing them to make a small loss on each sale it might have been the sensible choice (although they could of course just reduce the cashback % rather than remove it altogether).
Then again, a majority of users on cashback sites probably click straight through to thetrainline anyway so not sure how much Southern will lose out...

Because customers who were solely using them because of the cashback (like me) will now switch to using on of their competitors (like me).

Is that a monthly limit or an annual limit (ie if you bought an annual season for £3600 would you get cashback on the full total)?

Monthly limit (which also includes cashback from spend at many petrol stations as well).

Sorry about topcashback and quidco
But you can still get 10% discount on off-peak fares (set by Southern) at our website

I think I might keep using Southern to buy my FCC tickets - just for the pleasure of making FCC pay 5% commission to Southern! Southern also offer the moneyback guarantee with no fees for a refund.

I have several 'tracked' Southern purchases on Quidco. But no sign of them turning 'confirmed'. Will these be paid? There is no way now to easily raise a claim because 'Southern' is no longer a link in Quidco - not even a way to review now.
It's looking to me like far from being 6%, I was lured into 0% with a promise of 6%. Virgin might be only 2% but they do pay fast and they're still there. Feeling scammed by Southern at the moment...

If they were tracked when the offer was on, they should pay up even if the offer has since been taken off.

Annoyingly some companies take longer than others with Quidco.

Quidco is now only offering 1.5% on RSH. TCB are offering 1.51%. I guess I now go back to them!

Of course Southern will meet all of its obligations

If anyone has specific issues please PM me

Meanwhile i will ask the marketing team to make sure that all money is paid to quidco and topcashback as soon as possible

A while ago, my Southern cashback didn't get paid for ages. However when I complained they were very quick to rectify the problem. So we should not be worried about not getting paid.

Similarly a number of my Southern Delay Repay claims didn't get paid into my online account despite getting an email saying my claim was successful. However a quick message on Twitter fixed the problems promptly. This has happened 3 or 4 times now. It could be argued that it shouldn't really go wrong this often. However Southern have been quick to fix it each time.

I sent a message to quidcare; got a quick reply and swiftly updated to 'confirmed' and now 'paid'. So thanks are due to Quidcare and johnnycache...

Has anyone actually had all their Southern cashback from iMutual? I've had one, but I have four more that should have been awarded months ago, and so far nothing!
