Visited the Southend Pier Railway today in the hope of riding the new trains. Unfortunately both were parked up at the shore end of the pier with engineers crawling over them. A half hourly service was being maintained by Sir William Heygate whilst the other 'old' train (Sir John Betjeman) is no longer in service. The carriage bodies are dotted around the pier as seating areas whilst the loco is parked in one of the platforms at the the end of the pier. Judging by the rusty tracks on the passing loop only one train has been operating for a fair while.
