Hi there,

Not a happy person right now. Have just bought a Ramsgate-London return using the Southeastern site, entered my card details, and it's just said my card details are invalid...yet charged it?!?! It's very annoying as I cant really afford to pay the full price for the fare (no way am I using their site again in the immediate future), and southeastern take about a month replying the emails in my experience.

Is there anything I can do to get my money back in less than a month? Guessing not but worth an ask. (I suppose I could do a chargeback, as I used my Visa debit card?). Anyone know who runs the Southeastern online booking systems by the way? :)

Mike :)

Contact your bank. They may be able to help.

Thetrainline once refused to refund me as they billed me twice for the same ticket, unless I jumped through all of their hoops, sending them various letters and proof etc. So I called the bank and got the money taken off them and it got done there and then, no hassle! I don't trust Thetrainline, especially after someone told me I could get a KGX-YRK SVR for 10p at the station  (you can ask me about that in person, too complicated to explain here!)

Thanks Yorkie, will wait until the transaction shows in full on online banking, then give NatWest a call :) (Sorry for the tone of the original post by the way, was tired and had generally had a bad day yesterday!)

That's quite tiresome. It may be that they have authorised your card but will not post the charge, in which case the pending transaction will drop off within a week or so.

If it does show up, well all I can say is that the bank I work for will tell you to go and complain to the merchant first, and will only intervene if you have exhausted the merchant's complaint procedure. No idea whether NatWest will do the same.
