Got an email from Southeastern today letting me know they have future opportunities based at Hastings. I'm already training with another TOC, but thought some people on here might be interested. Closing date 23rd October.

The training salary is rather low, are they considered a good company to work for?

No idea what they're like to work for I'm afraid. With regards to the wage though it's not much less than what I'm on.

It's what a newly qualified London bus driver would get. What is it low compared to ?

I'm not saying it's low in absolute terms for a training salary, just comparitively speaking. Other TOCs salary while training seems to be around 50% of the salary when qualified so on that basis it's 3-4k lower than Id expect, certainly lower than GTR and Crossrail although living costs would be higher for Crossrail areas so that's no surprise.

It doesn't where I work, not until you are PQA. Depends on the TOC I guess.

Once qualified you go on a first year rate then it goes up to full money.
As a starter company it's fine but generally they are not that well regarded.
If you live close to the depot then it's a good shout but I know plenty who come from far and wide to avoid them.

I passed my managers interview at hastings in September, had medical last week and if all ok I start on December 7th!

Excited is a understatement! !

Very detailed, interesting and long ! Loved every minute of it though and they were very friendly. Good luck . If u need any advice just ask and I will help best as I can .

Vacancy has closed, and my application has been moved to: Trainee Driver Pool - Charing Cross. Well, I like that better than Hastings for the time being
