Southeastern stock shortage

Does anyone know why Southeastern is cancelling so many trains lately due to train failures and stock shortages? The company has never been great at maintaining Networkers - with connecting doors that only work by waving the magic eye, ripped seats, broken panels etc - but the current rate of failures is diabolical. Their Twitter service refuses to disclose information. Yet again fare paying passengers are treated like fools.

Out of interest but what would you gain from actually knowing what the issues are? Would it make any difference to your journey or lack of it?
