Well, I emailed Southeastern three days ago to confirm they received my application and to see when courses are likely to happen, but they haven't replied?
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Also, does anyone know of a contact number for SE recruitment?

I wouldn't keep bothering them if I were you. If you sent the application in via recorded delivery then you can check if it was received, or not. The best thing to do is just wait and be patient.

Sensible advice Haikarate ( and I certainly wouldn't bug them) but I've always personally admired keenness when recruiting staff in the past.

Anyway, they've got back to me now & I've been given an assessment day which is great news!

Any advice from people that have recently been through this process with Southeastern would be appreciated (I know there are 1000 threads on assessments already so I will be reading up on those)

Cheers peeps!

After such a long wait, I had my medical on Tuesday. I was told that all I needed was the results of the urine test to be clear. Which, unless someone has spiked a drink or something I ate, should be fine.
I hopefully will get some form of confirmation soon.
Could someone please tell me, are the Rules and Regs training and tests hard?
Many thanks in advance.

Good luck with those results... Have you heard back yet? Sounds like a long old process?

No news yet, but the Doctor said I passed everything and it was just a case of waiting for the results of my urine test.
I will post as soon as I hear regardless. Although I am quite positive as I don't drink nor take drugs.

Fantastic news today, Ive been told my medical was successful and have been given my start date (early June).
I wish everyone else applying, the best of luck.

My best advice is don't panic, remain calm and get to grips with the practice material provided. Good luck!!

Wel, I've passed the assessment which is great but now I face the unknown wait for a DM interview. Reading this thread front to back it seems some have been through the process very quickly and others have had a very long wait. I imagine the June course is full up by now and I guess the interviews will happen when future vacancies arise?
Until then I wish you all the best of luck through the various stages of the process

Well done!! Had a four month wait myself, between assessment and DM interview. But as you said it is obviously down to vacancies. Best of luck with your DM interview and medical.

The dreaded limbo. I passed the assessment in March. Extremely happy to have passed it, but even more eager to get my DM interview. I've been preparing since the day I passed the assessments.
Couple of questions (and I know many are in the same boat). Is there any way at all to narrow down the time frame for my DM interview? I'm obviously happy to wait as long as it takes, but it would be great to narrow it down just a bit. I keep pestering the recruitment team and I think they are bored of the sound of my voice now (I've been told by friends on the railway to keep nagging them).
I'm almost positive the June training schools are taken up now, but when is the next one likely to occur?
Absolutely any light on the situation would be fantastic. Gossy, if there's any way that you could slip in "how often do the training schools run" I would be eternally grateful. If only I can ask you to cast your mind back prior to the assessments and empathise with a fellow guy who is in a similar situation to what you was in.
All the best,
James.

What do they say when you call them? Do they give you any idea at all? Also the depot you applied for might make a difference? I've only waited a week and I'm already frustrated haha! You'll probably put it to the back of your mind after a while and then you'll randomly get an email for a Dmi. ????????????

After I passed my assessment, I rang the recruitment team a couple of times and on the second occasion was told early spring.
Ive asked a couple of mates who are in the job and both said its pretty much subject to requirement to when they recruit.
Personally, Id definitely not ring every week.
Sorry I cant be more specific, but perhaps someone experienced will read and answer this for you.
Good luck!! and well done with the assessment.

I had a Southeastern driver trainer in my cab a couple of weeks ago. He said that there are courses starting in June, July and September.

Thanks for the update, that's good to know! I imagine the June course is full. Anyone who has passed the assessment centre would still need a DM interview and a medical. Then, if successful most people would still need to give their current employer a months notice to leave so I think any possible interviews for a course starting in July would need to be happening pretty soon if they haven't already? September is more likely I'd assume?

Patiently waiting haha....

I'm rarely subject to jealousy but I'll have to put my hands up on this occasion, Railton. I passed in March and I check the mail every single day to no avail!
SEDriver, thanks for your input, you're a valuable asset in this thread and it's kind of you to offer your expertise.

Congratulations Railton! What did your letter say regarding the DM interview? Did they tell you anything about it, how long it will be, where it will take place, what happens if you're successful, who will be interviewing you etc.?

I imagine it has a lot to do with the depot you applied for? The interview is at Orpington but I applied for London depots... It doesn't really go into much detail other than it will last around an hour and directions on how to get there... Like you I have been checking my email regularly in anticipation, but there's not a lot more you can do I guess? The good news is you've passed the AC pal! Hopefully you'll hear soon. I'll let you know if I hear anything else...

That's good to hear Railton! Orpington are struggling to cover their work and have been for quite some time, due to vacancies, sickness etc. which is why you've probably got the DM interview pretty soon.

Good luck!!

Many thanks SEDriver,

I did stress the fact to hr that I was flexible with which depot I could work from. I'm a 30 min train journey to Victoria but can drive to Orpington in around the same time so it makes no difference to me. I'm just grateful for the opportunity...
Have you heard any more regarding potential course dates by any chance?

Plastictaffy, tell me about it. It's actually heartbreaking when I wake up every morning, excited, waiting for that letter. I wouldn't mind but I put down London stations as well, and I passed before others.
Just to clarify Railton, I know your interview is at Orpington, but do you have any idea where they are likely to station you, I know you emphasised that you were flexible.

It is an Orpington interview for an Orpington posting. I think I'm just lucky where I live as I can get into London quickly at any time by train but I can also jump on the M25 and be in Orpington in half an hour or so by car or motorbike. I believe you need to live within a certain amount of travel time from the depot so that may be the reason I was offered the interview?

It might be worth giving them another call just to see if they have any updates?

I haven't heard any more nor seen anyone to ask I'm afraid. You never know, once you pass your DMs interview they may stick you on the July course, but I think September would be more likely.

Keep us informed of your interview. ;)
