Does anyone have any up to date infomation on what 375 units have now been completed. Peferably with dates of when they returned to traffic. As weĺl as which ones are planned next. I am assuming all the 3 car units now complete? Have they started on any of the 6xx units yet?

Thanks.

I haven't seen many on the Medway Valley that aren't refurbed now. Having said that, the dirt shows up a lot more it seems on them!

I've seen a few of the refurbished units about on my journeys, I think the livery makes a nice change to the Connex era livery they've had for years! As mentioned in a previous comment, the 375/3s are being refuted first AFAIK :)

I assume an internal refurb will be done?

Regards

There were 3 x blue/purple 3753's stabled at Ramsgate this morning.

Edit: Saw Jedipickles post - Didn't realise that so many had been done.

375617 objected to being dragged by 47830 yesterday so the whole consist is dumped in Wembley Yard.

Considering 617 is a dual voltage you'd think they'd just ditch the loco, get a suitably trained driver, pan up & drive her home!

Oh, wait, it's 2015! My bad!

DB Schenker trained drivers when the 377/6 and /7s were being tested so chances are there is a driver who knows the traction plus the route...
But yeah, It'll never happen despite being possible

Also, 47830 is going to Leeds via Ilford tomorrow, I believe...

From the pics they look very nice. The new livery will definitely be an improvement.

Have the pantographs ever actually been used on the 3756's?

Could they even be used, trained drivers aside?

Not in service
375601 and 375602 have raised their pantographs that's it I believe

--- old post above --- --- new post below ---

47830 and Southeastern Class 375 unit No. 375617 worked the 5Q47 [09:44] Wembley Yard to Ilford EMUD stock movement. The train operated from Wembley Yard to Ilford EMUD via Kensington (Olympia) in order to turn the unit around.
On Saturday the 17th October this train was stopped at Wembley Yard while working the 5Q58 [03:09] Derby Litchurch Lane to Ramsgate EMUD stock movement due to flat wheels on PTSO coach No. 74217.
375616 is still at Ramsgate EMUD

This may sound like a daft question but would the Networkers (Class 465 and 466) also get this dark blue treatment too? Or would they remain in the White + Blue Stripe Livery? (with light blue doors), which to be fair was fairly recently done I believe.

Chart Leacon depot in Ashford had a small section of OHLE installed but i'm not sure if it was ever really used. I have a vague memory of seeing a 375/6 under it in the early days with the pantograph raised.
Possibly installed when it was thought they might venture north of London under the wires.

Saw my first 4 car 375 in the new livery today, confirming that the first class is now a single section in a central position. Photo attached.

I genuinely do not understand why they are putting first class in the middle.. I thought we had made progress and moved away from doing that on most modern stock!

Interesting to see it in London, very different to the quiet rural setting of the Paddock Wood-Strood line.

I like it much better than the white and yellow. It blends into the scenery and looks far more civilized.

Is's been done to reduce the number of FC seats per unit down to 16 seats instead of 24.

as for an update on progress:

All 10 375/3s are now out in use
375605 is done and at Ramsgate EMUD
375617 is out and about

375616 & 375620 are on site at Derby

Next unit to go should be 375626.

Am I to assume then that the unit I saw at Battersea was 375617?

Given the decision to reduce the amount of FC seating, It does make sense to have it centrally in the unit to increase the chances of intending passengers finding and gaining the accommodation easily as the train arrives. If the FC was at one end only, there is a good chance that one would be at the wrong end of the unit when boarding.

Is it a franchise requirement to keep 1st class on the 375s? I only ask because the seats are the same as standard and the 395s have no 1st class at all despite being the "creme de la creme" for South Eastern.

Just remembered that the 395 does not serve Tunbridge Wells.

Except tomorrow, when a railtour takes a pair there!

Southeastern say that any journey on a 395 is a "first class experience" and thus no 1st class section is required.

First class on 375s seems a little pointless, as the seating is the same, there are no longer refreshment trolleys, and now people will be walking through to reach other parts of the train. The only benefit is more chance of a seat.

In my opinion, the area selected for first class at the inner end of the central carriage which does not have the pantograph is actually the best location in the 375 fleet. This is the area that once had red-tinge seats when there was three different types of moquette and the spacing of the seats is the most spacious in the unit. Certainly better than the area behind the cabs.

Firstly- SE have never said that about 395s in any publications

Secondly- SE/SN/TL operate a commuter based network - so comparing it to any long distance operator would not be fair.

Thirdly- the trolleys were underused and heavily subsidised so I understand

Fourthly?- if the train was formed of more than one unit people would be walking through anyway

And finally- thats precisely the point of it in the L&SE area!
