Is there any scheduled use of the Down tunnel in the Up direction? I cannot recall ever seeing its use in that direction for years now! And vice versa for that matter.

I don't know about scheduled use, but it's constantly happening. Up trains over the down and down trains over the up, usually associated with late running.
12/01/08 was when we had a practice for the block. We took out loads of bits of track, had a play and jiggle around and proudly put them all back in ahead of schedule only to be held up by the blocks resurfacing Mount Pleasant!

So what is the latest plan for deepening the tunnel ?
Is it going to be closed completely for a while or is it going to be open with single line working ? When is this going to happen ?
