Southampton to Emsworth, Return from Portsmouth

I need to travel from Southampton to Emsworth, then return from Portsmouth Harbour the same day.

As far as I can see a Southampton - Emsworth ticket is valid for break of journey at Portsmouth Harbour - can someone please confirm?

Are there any cheaper ways of doing these journeys?

It is valid for interchange purposes only.

But I doubt you will run into any bother.

To be absolutely sure, you need a Fratton - Harbour ticket on top.

Or, to be pedantic, Harbour to Fratton. :)

BTW: fairly certain Harbour has no barriers but Southsea has (and I've even seen them in use!)
