Hi I am shortly to go for an interview for this role. Can anyone give an insight into what is likely to be asked of me. Just a standard interview or assessment tests aswell ?

Hello, it was many years ago since I had mine, but the questions will probably have a similar focus on safety and customer service.

Try to think of examples you can give where you went the extra mile, delt with a difficult customer, had to work alone or within a team, communicate effectively.

It also helps to read over the job description so you know what exactly is expected of you, and find out a little about the company as they may ask what you know.

They'll be looking for a calm, professional person who can work well under pressure and be a good ambassador for the company. Which station did you apply for?

I was on the Gateline with a different TOC until quite recently. From what I have seen of SWR Gateline is Gateline. That is to say, general safety (rather than safety critical) and so (although there is a basic medical) you won't need to worry about passing an assessment unless you get the job and complete the (~one week) training course, and even then it's mostly practical.
I hasten to add that it is by no means a job that just anyone could do, and there will be a lot to learn on the job. You need to be able to follow procedures, report incidents and deal with whatever lone working may bring. If you can give examples of having done that sort of thing previously then you have every chance.
