Im interested in becoming a train driver for SWT.

What locations can drivers be based at? I noticed a vacancy for Basingstoke, however this might JUST be out of my travel time into work. (I live in Staines) as they state you must live within 30mins of your depot. Does SWT have any depots or bases that are near to Staines that may be worth holding out for?

If I did apply as a driver based at Basingstoke, is it possible to transfer to another depot or base?

I presume the 30min rule is similar to the same criteria airlines use for their aircrew? Some live just outside the given timescale whilst others relocate.

It is usually half hour from where you are WHEN you apply. Some have had luck living further and saying you'll relocate.

I was told at my interview that you can't change location until you have been qualified for two years.

Depots near Staines would be Guildford, Woking, Wimbledon and Strawberry Hill. Not sure how far they are away, someone on her will come along with better info.

I thought Staines was just for guards? (I know where the depot is) Im certainly going to keep my eye out. :D

SWT are recruiting 150 Guards across the network next year ;).

I might have to ring them after Xmas and see if I can apply for Fratton, even though I just got an offer for Gateline.
