South West Trains at Castle Cary

Yesterday I was at Castle Cary at about 20:30. I saw at least 1 SWT train (and possibly another). I was wandering if anyone has any information about these as I can't find much online. I know the destination of one was Bristol Temple Meads. How come SWT would be doing this when I thought this was a FGW route.

They were both empties.

Train one (ECS Yeovil Jn to Westbury)

Train two (ECS Westbury to Salisbury depot via Yeovil)

Both are normal weekday services in the WTT from what I can tell.

That's all well and good between Yeovil Jn and Westbury (via Castle Cary), but what about Westbury - Salisbury (via Warminster)? These services return to Yeovil before continuing onto Salisbury.

For route knowledge in both directions. (There's presumably no time to be faffing around with fancy routes on the morning ECS, so do both ways in the evening.)

Are FGW still hiring in a SWT 158? Haven't seen one for ages. Certainly not on the Golden Valley line between Swindon and Cheltenham which was where one was normally to be found. Nothing seen in the Bristol area either.

Maybe they aren't any more, must admit I haven't been round those parts for a while but as it seemed to be a long term arrangement I assumed nothing had changed?

SWT already run services between Westbury and Salisbury, the London Waterloo-Bristol Temple Meads trains.
