South Wales / Valleys Freedom Pass?

Hi,

I was looking to see if there is a Freedom Pass / Day Rover available on the Valley Lines services in South Wales, but can't seem to find anything on NRE.

Can anyone confirm if it is (still) available, price (with YP railcard), and routes / validity please?


I remember from ~2010/11 a pass was available for ~£10 (with YP); and covered all valleys north of Cardiff Queen Street, Penary, Barry Island and Bridgend via VoG line, and Bridgend to Maesteg. Not sure about Ebbw line or travel to Newport.

Would it be possible to use this ticket on a mainline service to Bridgend; if so, would it be possible to use on a "fast" ATW service that doesn't call at an intermediate stop (e.g. Llanharran), or on an FGW service?

No Railcard discount I think :/ Valid on FGW Bridgend-Cardiff? I suspect this goes in the same category as is the Anglia+ valid on XC services. Officially no, but in practice yes because the TOC specific restriction does not appear on the ticket.

railrover.org gives details of Valley Lines Day Explorer. Valid from 09.15 Mon to Fri and anytime at weekends.

It costs £11 but there are no railcard discounts.

Although not valid on First Great Western services, it is available to buy from the FGW website!

The NRE links for some reason do not appear to be working. Here is one from ATW.

There is nothing about operator restriction from public sources that I can see, although The Manual does mention that the validity is on "All Valley Lines services operated by Arriva Trains Wales" however The Manual does not form part of the contract.

I have too The incidence of uncertainty for me came from the fact that in the 'participating TOCs' on NRE it only says ATW. And it's not for sale in FGWs Rangers/Rovers section
