To get your moneys worth I would do the WAG set to at least Hereford, if not Shrewsbury. I would also try and fit in a few FGW HST moves as they won't be HST for long.

The OP has around 3 years before the HSTs go, but yes I would recommend enjoying the experience in case they don't get another chance to do so.

On a summer saturday at the moment, there's 2 HST diagrams to Pembroke Dock. These will probably run next summer too.

07:24 Swansea-Pembroke
08:45 Padd-Pembroke
returning as
10:01 Pem-Pad
14:55 Pem-Pad

It's a great experience trundling down the Pembroke Dock branch in a HST! I must do it again soon!

Sorry but wheres Pembroke Dock :P

I should point out i have been Cardiff twice, the 2nd time i used the Premier Inn at Barry Island to avoid a Football Match (IIRC) Both of them times i never explored the Lines as i was down there with a mate who was catching up with an old friend Thats the only 2 times i have ever been into South Wales :P

The South Wales rover is valid all the way to Fishguard harbour, milford haven, Pembroke Dock, Shrewsbury (via the HOWL, and the Marches), and Gloucester.

If you're going to do the Pembroke Dock and Milford Haven branches, I suggest going to one, catching a bus to the other and returning from there. There's a pretty good service between the two.
Going out and back to both is rather time consuming.
I'm planning to do this myself sometime next Summer. Done Fishguard many times en route to/from Ireland, but need the other 2 W Wales branches.

That's correct . No Railcard discount. It is valid on more than just rail services.
