Interesting to learn from team on HS1 train this morning that as of now there are still 7 units that are out of service. That is over a week since the freezing temperatures. I do not think this bodes well for the future of our Intercity fleet. Short trains have been a nightmare this week with people standing from Folkestone. Why is it taking so long for Hitachi to get the trains working. No toilets on the train this morning either.

Only one HS1 train was (due to be) short formed today according to Southeastern's twitter feed around 6am.

We are pleased to say that the High Speed fleet engineers have fixed all the damage caused to our trains by Ice and snow last week has been fixed & we only have one short formed High Speed service. Also all three Maidstone West-St Pancras services are running today.

The 395s will have their own set of challenges, what with the third rail interface and so on.

I was told by the train manager this morning 7 sets still out if use. There had been 11 out of use at the peak he said. Third rail nothing to do with the toilets not working. Just poor service and maintenance regime.
