Hi all.

Are South Eastern Cl 395 drivers still signed on the classic routes and classic rolling stock or are they a unique bunch signed for HS1 only.

E.G., Can an Ashford driver do a return to Victoria (via Maidstone East) and then do a return to STP on HS1 in a class 395.

Just a thought as to whether there are two totally different links of drivers at South Eastern

Hs1 drivers still sign the route to vic via Bromley, there is a route trip on a Wednesday that takes a 395 into vic. Only hs1 drivers work into stp.

They sign only 395s, but do sign some 'classic' routes as diversion:

Gravesend-Dartford
Faversham-Dover Priory via Canterbury East
Rochester-Victoria via Herne Hill and Catford
Ashford-Swanley via Maidstone East
Ramsgate-Sandwich

Could 395 driver confirm the true running speeds on HS1. I read they were timed to 125
but 140 was available for recovery. chatting to a driver he said they do run at 140
being a regular at Dagenham Dock it does not seem like they are doing 140.there is not the sence of speed like watching pendies at Harrow & Wealdstone

225Kph running for 395's on HS1, max permitted for 373's in passenger service is 300kph, however 320kph for 373's when on test runs.

So, if HS1/St. Pancras were closed for some reason, would 395s run to Victoria?

Class 395 drivers do not work other types of stock. Mainline and HS1 work is separated.

The same applies to on board managers who can only 'work' DOO Class 395s unless they were previously guards in which case they could switch back if a vacancy was available.

Speedo doesn't work in the rear cab of a 395 unfortunately.

They sign only 395s, but do sign some 'classic' routes as diversion:

Gravesend-Dartford
Faversham-Dover Priory via Canterbury East
Rochester-Victoria via Herne Hill and Catford
Ashford-Swanley via Maidstone East
Ramsgate-Sandwich

Unless the Sandwich peak services go straight back to Dover only, most 395's should go straight to the Minster Spur to head back to the Hitachi Depot at Ashford, so drivers should have nearly all the Ramsgate-Sandwich route anyway.

Also, drivers have knowledge of the Fawkham Jnt-Singlewell section of old HS1 link, including from Swanley to Fawkham Jnt, with 1 train running empty from Swanley-Ashford once each way. Does anyone know when this runs?

They're empty movements:

Wednesday Only (WO):
5J01 1035 Ashford Down Sidings to London Victoria (1213)
5J02 1234 London Victoria to Ashford Down Sidings (1422)

Both are booked via HS1 to Fawkham Junction, then via Swanley and the Catford Loop.
