South Croydon station has now been without working information screens, announcements and ticket machines for over a week. In addition, the ticket office has been unable to sell tickets 'due to a computer problem'.
Southern (via Twitter) claimed last week they were aiming to fix this as quickly as possible; however, it appears not to be a priority at all. Is this just incompetence/negligence on the part of the TOC (or NR?) or is there a more serious underlying technical issue?
Apart from anything else, with a lack of announcements there could easily be confusion in the morning peak when there are occasional platform alterations between platforms 3 and 4. And, no doubt, Southern won't look kindly on anyone who travels from the station without a ticket, even though there are no facilities to buy one.
Seems to me to be further evidence of why GTR is a complete basket case and needs to lose its franchise now.
