Remember in the mid 1970's a number of Eastern Scottish Loddeka FLF's were modified with music and adverts on the upper deck, does anyone else remember this and did any other operators have this ? Great memories

Some Aberdeen Atlanteans around number 191 had them (might have been from 186 to 195 but I cannot recall) plus some Northern Scottish Aberdeen based buses.

Its been tried many times over the years, often to raise revenue and usually stopped when too many people complained about it. Then a few years later somebody else thinks it's a good idea again!
A preserved Hants and Dorset Lodekka has (or used to have) a recording of Radio Luxembourg played on the top deck when it was in use.

Not sure if it counts but Bain's coaches used to have full radio/speaker systems on their vehicles and blasted out some interesting tunes, not seen it happen lately though!

There's a First Aberdeen Driver who has a old stereo and tends to listen to the football....

More recently and extensively, British Bus introduced TOPPS which stood for something like The Original Passenger Picture Show that had infomercials and other such stuff. Essentially a telly with speaker located in the bus (lower deck only on deckers). I can recall them on Northumbria VRs and Olympians, and on Midland Red North. I'd assume that it was similarly foisted on other BB subsidiaries??

I believe the reason Eastern Scottish fitted the system to the FLF's rather than the newer DD's was that the DD's were suitable for omo and the main routes using the sounds and motion was the Edinburgh / Glasgow trunk routes 16, 27 and 35 which was crew operated at the time

No one seems fussed by it as they've done it for well over a decade!

WYPTE tried Sounds in Motion for a short period, I'm not sure how widely it was fitted and I don't recall much advertising being played . . . just a lot of instrumental music. Arriva Yorkshire West (YWD) vehicles were certainly fitted with TOPPS, but I never saw the system in use.

I think TOPPS was pre Arriva, when they were West Riding and Yorkshire Woollen District etc. Seem to recall seeing a Tommy Cooper show compilation on one occasion.
