Some Shots From Newcastle

I went down to Newcastle the other day and took a few photos. It's a good place to go because it's spotter friendly and they'll let you on the Platforms for free.

Furthermore, one of the XC drivers allowed me to sit in the cab of his Voyager!

Of course, I traveled to the station via Metro. The first photograph I took was of Haymarket Metro Station. And I do agree, whilst we have a tendency to hate them, the Pacers are incredibly photogenic!

What was your opinion of Haymarket station? The design has been deemed a success, but I am not too keen on it.

67001 is the Thunderbird, normal to see a 67 sitting in that siding all day. Very handy as it has access to both the EMCL both north and south of Newcastle without a reversal, and also the Durham Coast line.

I like the Underground Metro stations. They seem quite clean, well presented and sufficiently maintained. Haymarket seemed a good one.

The most noticeable change on the Metro were the post-refurb electric screens, which display the next stations. I probably should've taken a shot but my camera went flat!

Yeah Haymarket is a much better looking station than the others although Sunderland main station is also a million times better than it used to be.

Central station and Monument will be refurbished to the same style as Haymarket.
