cheers Jordy that shot was deliberate, tried to be a bit arty but didn't quite hav the effect i was looking for lol

i used a polariser on an 18-55mm lens

i'll go back there in a few weeks when the autumn colours are more prolific

The new filter has been used with good effect in some of those shots; they are really useful for improving the appearance of sky (especially cloud formations) as well as cutting down haziness (not needed today!) and unwanted reflections.

One of the best investments that can be made although they do take a little practice to use correctly.

Pretty expensive but a good quality one

Prob' with some of the pics was the filter was in a fixed position due to me havin to bodge fit it to my lens (i bought a 62mm one as thats my biggest lens but havn't got hold of a reducer for my 52mm lens yet(diameters))

The effect is quite dramatic especially with the dark clouds about today

An ND grad' set of filters is next on the agenda

If I'd known you were about then I may have scooted up to annoy you. The only possible downside if that you may have felt an overwhelming desire to jump Always had Cholsey on my list of "to visit" locations but never actually bothered to make the trip.

The bridge is a good location as there are several different viewpoints from which to take pictures from:

1. you can go for the usual 3/4 or head on view from the bridge itself,

2. there's a variety of shots from the north ramp with the power stn in the background,

3. then there is the bottom of the south ramp where i took the majority of those pics from, this time with a nice side on shot with the church in the background.

If you have a look on my site there's 3 cholsey albums(some are titled as thames valley pics) which give examples of all the different types of shots from there.

i'll be going there quite a bit next few months so may see you there lol

Nice shots, and it's great to see someone trying something different. My only comment would be that you might have been better using a bit more of a telephoto - thus cutting out some of the dead foreground.

yes thats basically what they do
