Hi all

I applied back in 2005 to be a train driver at south-eastern I think is was called connex back then and I heard nothing for 3 years and to be honest started to give up on the idea :(

Then after moving to a new home in 2008 and lucky for me taking my phone number with me got a call from south-eastern to ask if I was still interested I’m becoming a train driver with which I replied of course she then said to me we are running some assessment test in a couple of weeks would you like to attend one and again I said yes :)

Well I went to the assessment at London bridge and was there for the day with about 12 other people at the end of the day I only see one other guy that got through it all as well so I’m not sure how many of us made it but like I said I only see 1 so I passed all there test and was really really happy and this was in 2008

I then waited and waited until in February 2011 I got a letter to say they were looking for drivers at my local depot and could I attend an interview with which I did and all seemed to go really well with the interview I felt really good coming out of it and tbh really happy with myself I was suited all up nice and felt I looked good for it.

Then come the end of the month just after my birthday I got a letter to say I was unsuccessful :( and at the bottom of the letter it stated "Please note that although you were unsuccessful on this occasion, the interviewing managers did provide positive feedback, so I hope that you will not be deterred from applying for any future vacancies within south-eastern"

So the advice I would like from you all is what do you think should I give it another crack or not? I mean I fell at the last hurdle they are not looking for any drivers atm on the site but I did e-mail them asking if there was any jobs going but for some reason they just sent me and application form to fill out again?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Many Thanks

Sounds to me like they've possibly written that little note at the end of the letter in the hope that you will apply again in future. I also suspect that maybe the reason you didn't get through this time was just because (don't take this the wrong way) there was someone just that little bit more 'suited' to the job than you and not because of any failing on your part. Good luck with it all in the future though! :)
