I see there was a bit more controversy last week wit he Mark Allen moving when Ronnie was on the shot incident.

There were a number of similar incidents at the World Championships, mostly involving the young Welsh player Jamie Clarke.

One thing I've always been curious about:

Why doesn't snooker, when most others ports do, have a 3rd place playoff match between the two losing semi finalists?

In the recent Championship League, they were playing for places in groups of 4, and prize money increased for better placings, so there was an incentive to finish 2nd and 3rd. This lead to some dead rubbers so players ended up playing much faster and less risk averse than normal.

I gather Ronnie got into trouble as well because he spoke to Mark directly instead of approaching the referee about it?

Trump got a 147. Therefore he was trending on Twitter, which confused a lot of people.

I've watched a bit of it. It's odd not having much of an audience, but that seems to have raised the noise of the ventilation system which I now notice, and don't remember doing so when there was a normal audience.

I followed the world championship in the 90's when I always hoped Jimmy White would win, and he always ended up getting thwarted by Stephen Hendry, who was the equivalent back then of Ronnie O Sullivan now. The closest Jimmy got was when it was 17-17 and he missed an easy black, Hendry came to the table and cleared up.

The 92, 93 and 94 World finals were all Jimmy White versus Stephen Hendry. That was the last time that the same two players have contested the final of the same tournament three years running. However, that will be replicated tomorrow when Ronnie O'Sullivan plays Judd Trump in the Northern Ireland Open final for the third year running.

Yet another 147, this time on the second day of the UK Championship. This time by Kyren Wilson, a few days after his arch-rival Judd Trump got one at the Northern Ireland open.
