Yeah but if an extra battery is another £80 you just carry a fully charged spare. I just got a very nice thinkpad for just over £600. And 5% back buying through Quidco.

The issue with having a 'fully charged' battery spare is that in most cases the battery power will whither away anyway through non-use. Lithium batteries are especially prone to this.

Get everyone you know to donate, say, 50p to you. It will all add up in the end!

Or sell stuff you don't want/need anymore, or again, get people to donate stuff they don't want that you could sell on.

Or get a work on commission job where you get paid for how much work you do (so if you don't feel like working, don't, but you won't get paid obviously).

The ebay thing works to a certain degree. They eventually catch on though, or the other sellers grass on you.

I used to sell cans of drink and sweets at school. There was so much demand that I was bringing dozens of them in every day and employed other people to sell for me . Churned out a profit of around £20 a day after recovering stock costs and staff wages.

Some of the teachers didn't like it, but what could they do? The canteen was a rip off and crap ever since Jamie Oliver made his voice heard!!

i was the same as you, wanted stuff but needed the money, but as soon as i got a job i was able to sort it all out, and now i've got it all.

failing that, you could always sell an air guitar on ebay (it's been done before, £5,000 i think the person got for it, and it cost him £2 to get a box and send it in the post)

Best bet though is the job, because then once you have what you want, you can get other stuff that you want

Are you at college? If so i believe having your boxes and a job is allowed while at College untill you are 18. Ask your parents to check the rules with their staff travel department. When i was at College i had my boxes and a job too. Now i have boxes through working for the railways lol, i dont think its changed in the 10 years since i left college.

class313, it's not the fact she doesn't want a job. It's the fact she doesn't want a job in case she loses her priv. And I can fully understand why!

It's not always that easy either, I know one member of this forum who had one hell of a hard time getting a job over the last couple of years or so.

£10 per DVD was the going rate at my school. All was well until he tried to get the physics teach to let his form watch Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire before it was released!(Was in July)

Why not get a really cheap laptop, but with a decent processor and screen and upgrade the RAM, graphics etc yourself?

Some 6th former I know have set up their own computer business - cost is only that of parts plus 5%

People sold DVDs in my school but one made the mistake of playing one in the common room. The quality was appauling, but the people dumb enough to buy off him in the first place didn't get any refunds which I found hilarious.

True. We pay for people with privs... Is it such a terrifying thought you would have to pay to travel!? If you had a job then you would actually have money instead of using the priv. One of my reasons why Privs should ONLY be handed out to workers and not their family.
