SNCF TGV Duplex in Germany

I was in Hannover Hbf last friday when an SNCF TGV Duplex pulled alongside the ICE I was travelling in, it was on a though road and did not stop at a platform.

Has anyone any idea what it was doing there? AFAIK the only SNCF TGVs which operate in germany are single deck and run on the Munich/Stuttgart-Paris route, i.e. nowhere near Hannover.

Could this have been route learning in preparation for SNCF starting to run german domestic services in competition with DB?

You sure it was a duplex? The TGV POS (what is used on Paris - Stuttgart/Munchen & Frankfurt) uses TGV Duplex style 'locos' and the carriages only are single deck?

That must be instruction and above all test drive journeys. The new TGV Double Decker will enter in service in Germany after the next timetable change and Switzerland as well. TGV Lyria ( a company which belongs to SNCF and SBB ) will become 19 Double Decker TGV.

This was probably a TGV 2N2 aka RGV 2N2 (47xx numbers) international double deck set. Extensive tests have already taken place in Switzerland as they will operate the new Paris – LGV Rhin Rhone – Switzerland services.
