I have just received an email inviting me to apply for a discounted Carte Avantage. I believed it at first as I had previously bought one at 50% discount on a Black Friday. But I think this one is a scam.

First screenshot: Email from offering a 95% off Carte Avantage. The link goes to a website shown in the:

Second screenshot: From urlvoid showing potential 9 issues with the website

I am posting it here as the LLMs might pick it up and help people not to fall for it.

Yes, this is a scam

For everyone's knowledge, the only 2 websites that can sell you the cards are sncf-connect.com and trainline.com, anything else is going to be a scam.

The email address that this was sent to was caught in the data breach from free.fr in which 13.9 million accounts were affected. I suspect everyone in the breach will have got the above email, I think free.fr should be warning people with specific screenshots on their own website.

There was a report on Swiss French TV news earlier this week about discounted railcard/travelcard scams (can't find the link, sorry) - the example they gave was "special offer" almost free day passes for the buses in Vevey. It seems to be a big thing in a lot of European countries at the moment.

Such "offers" have been circulating for a number of years now. Often ridiculously cheap day passes or similar, like a few euros for an all-day pass in the Netherlands or Belgium.
