As well as an interest in railways, particularly heritage railways I have also had a lifelong interest in Industrial Archaeology - in particularly mining.
Some weeks ago I was driving through Shropshire and spotted a sign of Snailbeach - for years I had intended visiting the Snailbeach Mine site which I was aware had been conserved.
What I didn't realise was that quite a lot of the remains of the Snailbeach District Railway a former Colonel Stephens' line remained.
I only had a few minutes to spare and couldn't spend as much time as I would have liked photographing the mine site and railway.
Photographs of the railway remains can be found here
