said drinking was fine (in moderation - some hope at NAFI prices)
Regarding NAFI prices, a couple of months ago I was in the mess at Mount Pleasant where a double Lambs and Coke came to the princely sum of 50p, ergo it's still possible to get very merry with a Fiver - its pleasing to see some things have remained sensible!
On a similar note, I remember a circular sent out in the early 70s which went something like this:
"Please circulate the following to all Officers:
The latest medical research contends that excessive drinking may have serious repercussions in the long term health of the individual. In light of this, we suggest that individuals limit their alcohol consumption to no more than 3 bottles of Gin, or their equivalent, per week. We appreciate this may seem a draconian measure, but it is based on corroborated medical research".
Oh how times have changed!
