Smgpw code on ticket

I've bought some tickets to Edinburgh from London KX.

They have the code SMGPW.

Iirc I bought a group ticket (4) so this must mean Small Group something?

I thought they said GPS-4 in the past?

My parents are asking if they need to bring their Senior a Railcards with them, however it looks like I didn't use them.

GPS-4 is specific to Groupsave, a scheme that East Coast are not involved with.

I can't say I know what SMGPW is off-hand, but Small Group discount sounds plausable, If all the discount status' are the same then the Railcards are not needed for those tickets (unless you told the seller you all had Railcards).

They are indeed the Small Group Discount. The 02% text indicates a further 2% saving by buying online.

no further discount.

It used to be that you got the Railcard discount and a further 10% off (totalling approx. 40% off) for those with Railcards and 34% off for the remainder of the group.

It's less generous these days, and is advertised as 25% off. In your case there was an additional 2% off but I don't know if that is universal.

SMGPW indicates the web version of the Small Group discount, which differs slightly from the version available at ticket offices. Thus SMGP= Small Group and W= web.
