A few years ago before Dartford made it into Zone 8, there was an issue where if you purchased a paper one day Travelcard from Dartford to zones 1-6 that the barriers would take your ticket upon arrival back at Dartford despite the fact that the ticket had unlimited use of TfL bus services - of which Dartford has a few!
Wasn't a problem as the persons manning the gates would happily let you through if you showed them the ticket.
But what would happen now, say for example you bought your one day Travelcard from Slough and it was on a ITSO Smartcard and you wanted to continue your journey after returning to Slough on the 81 bus would the barrier upon exit invalidate the Travelcard as you've already used the return part of your journey from outside the zones or would it remain on the smartcard so you can continue your journey on TfL bus services?
For anyone that doesn't know that a one day Travelcard from outside the zones allows for one single return journey into the Travelcard zones and unlimited travel on most TfL services within those zones for a day
Obviously, only a few areas round London this would affect but I wonder if anyone has done this.
