Smallest town with three stations

Newhaven possibly?

Three stations (Town, Harbour and Marine) to serve a town of 12,000 people. I know Marine is a 'ghost' station, but for a town that small it must take some beating. Plus the ratio of one station per 4000 people must take some beating too.

My mother in law lives in Newhaven so opportunities to make a swift are greatly appreciated.

True, but the population of Ryde is nearly double that if Newhaven

It is still technically 'open' I think although you can't access it.

I understand the circumstances that led to a town as small as Newhaven getting three stations, but how and why did Dorking end up with three?

Two separate lines serve Dorking, but there is no station on both lines, so that accounts for two of them. Dorking and Dorking Deepdene are very close, Dorking serving the route to Victoria/Waterloo via Epsom, and Dorking Deepdene the Guildford to Redhill line.

Tywyn has three stations, Tywyn, Tywyn Wharf and Pendre, and according to Google it is smaller than Portmadog with only 3264 inhabitants.

Full length of line. In fact, technically Fairbourne is part of the Arthog Community (population still 1,031) which includes Morfa Mawddach.

Beckenham (in Kent) has 3 stations with its name: Beckenham Junction, Beckenham Hill and New Beckenham. There is no "Beckenham" station in the town. But you could include Kent House, Clock House and Birkbeck (so 6 stations) but this still wouldn't fit the original enquiry

The only suffixed station on that line is Redcar East. No such station as Marske West.

No such station now or at any time in the past (or West Marske come to that) as far as I can tell.

Maybe when Longbeck was opened in the 1980's there was talk of calling it 'West Marske' but they settled on Longbeck?
