Small Blue Signs near East Grinstead

I travelled the East Grinstead line yesterday. I noticed some blue signs about 1' Sq with red writing. At speed they are unreadable.

Does anyone know what is writtern on them and what they mean?

Are they fixed to bridges and in a chequered pattern? If so they may be No Refuges boards. The text would read Warning! No refuges. These mean there are no positions of safety on this side of the line for the length of the structure but there are on the other side.

Thanks Driver 9000. I know the signs you mean but these were near what looked like footpath crossings with the only word I could make out was, I think "vegetation" along with other words.

There have been a number of incidents in recent years resulting in injury or death on foot crossings due to excessive vegetation growth affecting people's views of approaching trains. Could these signs be reminders that vegetation in certain areas needs to be kept cut back, perhaps?

They could be sighting boards maybe? Placed a known distance from foot crossings so that workers can check vegetation hasn't obscured the sighting from the crossing?

The wording should be something like

If this sign is not visible, vegetation needs cutting back.
