Slow train tonight

Does anyone know what this train on the ECML tonight is? Its timed for 45mph max.

The rail grinder was parked in the WGC sidings when changed trains there yesterday evening so it could be that?

I was talking to someone the other day who was a train driver but not trained on any routes and would purely move new loco's wherever told with a pilot man. It meant they put silly speed restrictions on him and he would have to move loco's across the country not exceeding 9mph.

It has to be a wind up, I have worked as a pilotman (and been piloted) on several occasions and we did line/train speed as appropriate.

Out of interest, what are the duties of a pilotman? Do you have to give some sort of running route commentary to the driver? Or just the occasional "there's a speed restriction/signal about a mile ahead"?
