To begin with I am wondering if this topic now belongs in the history section! Anyway I have some questions.
Is the control only of power to the traction motors or does it also use the train air brakes to check the speed?
From the information on loco docs website I can see what looks like two variations -
one has 0.5 mph, 1.2 mph, 2.7 mph and OFF
another has 0.5 mph, 1.2 mph, 2.7 mph and "balancing speed of 6-7 mph"
or are they just two ways of writing the same thing?
I am assuming that the train does not need to come to a halt to engage slow speed, but rather just brake to a low speed with throttle closed, select slow speed and move throttle to ON.
(do I understand from info that when throttle is closed the reversing switch needs to be moved to EO before low speed is selected.
Similarly the idea of "balancing speed of 6-7 mph" sounds like what you might get with the throttle moved to ON anyway, although instructions say to close the throttle and move the reversing switch from EO to Forward before reopening the throttle.
