Travelled it on a SZ Pendolino, went from Maribor > Ljubljana then the next day to Venice.

Shame they stopped the daily Ljub - Venice train, was very busy.

According to EuroCityCard blog the Ljubjana to Villa Opicina service is being increased to every 2 hours from Spring 2015

I don´t really believe that this is going to happen. Because of the sleet there is almost no passenger traffic between Borovnica (that is 25km out of Ljubljana) and Sezana. Freight trains on section Borovnica-Pivka are operated with diesel locomotives.
But I hope there will be passenger traffic next year.

I think it was a night train (Budapest to Venice) which went via Ljubljana and Sežana, I used it once in its last year of operation. When this was discontinued, Slovenia and Italy were left with no direct rail link.

This year, Slovenian railways started services to Opčine (Villa Opicina) in Italy, but as far as I'm aware there are no onward connectinos from there!

A Funicular/Tram connects it with Trieste but no direct connection to the railway station

On a train somewhere in Europe

So do I, with 664s.....
The damage is huge and though they are plodding away at rectifying things it looks like it will be a considerable time before things are back to normal. Message sent from Rakek where the 664s on freight are making a huge racket :D

I also made a timetable preposition for railroad Jesenice-Nova Gorica-Sežana, the famous Bohinj railroad.

What do you think about it? What would you add or change?
If you don´t understand somethnig (because it´s in Slovenian language), please ask me.

A couple of those propsed extra services would have been very useful for me - I was staying in Bohinjsta Bistrica last week.

I arrived from Austria via Villach at 13:33 and had to arrange a pick up at Jesenice as there was no onward connection for the Bohinj line.

I did use the local train on the return journey on Saturday - Bohinjska Bistrica station is interesting! 4 tracks with 3 having very low platforms (no numbers) - the man at the ticket office told me to use platform 4 - you just walk across the tracks to get to it. the first track is used by the car train.

one other thing is a connection at Jesenice to allow a day trip into Ljubljana would be useful - there are connections in the afternoon for the return journey but it requires a long wait at Jesenice out in the morning at present. in the end as there was a group of 8 of us we a got a deal with the local taxi driver that wasn't much more than using the service bus but a lot quicker.
