Slough to Paddington split ticketing confusion

Hi all,

On Friday I went to Slough at about 7pm in order to catch the 1910 GWR non-stop High Speed Train to London Paddington. I already have a Gold Card which covers Zones 2-6, so bought a Slough to Boundary Zone 6 single, and an Acton Main Line to London Paddington single at the ticket office, for a total of £5.35 with Gold Card discount, instead of £6.10 discounted for the through ticket from Slough to London Paddington.

For a moment before the clerk tried to sell me a West Drayton to Paddington ticket and said my Gold Card is valid up to West Drayton (it isn't as it comes from Haywards Heath AAA Crawley). After persuading him to give me those tickets mentioned in paragraph 1, he then put "RA" on the tickets, which I know stands for Restrictions Advised.

Can someone confirm that those tickets in paragraph 1 plus my Gold Card for zones 2-6 are a valid combination as per section 14 of the NRCoT. Both the singles had no problems operating the respective gates.

Yes, of course it's valid.

(I am not going to get into a discussion about the technicalities of Condition 14. It is valid by any sane interpretation and was certainly valid under the old Condition 19. It was also within the spirit of the rules.)
