Slough Station P6

Passing through Slough yesterday around 11:15am and notice a 165 parked in platform 6. From memory, this platform has not seen passenger services for many years, so was wondering why it was there ?

some peak trains which start at slough often leave from p6 although most of the time it's a last minute alteration to p5

In the early mornings when I pass through, I often see the CIS for platform 6 advertising a service around 0820 departing from that platform.

It's proposed for removal as part of the Crossrail works.

There will, however, be a new platform 6 - a West facing bay instead.
