A few weeks ago the old footbridge was cordoned off at Slough station and signs were placed stating it needed repairs. However, a couple of weeks later contractors installed fencing in front of the stairs which looks fairly permanent. The signs are still suggesting that repairs are due to be carried out. This is making getting around between the platforms quite awkward for some. I was wondering if anyone knows what the future is likely to be for these stairs and bridge? The station is grade 2 listed.

It certainly has messed up my 1-minute connection from the Windsor branch to the Reading train! Given the existence of the brand new accessible footbridge I wouldn't be surprised to see it shut.

I took a service which stopped at Slough the other night and had wondered this too - They appeared to have a fairly substantial gate over the Northern side which did make me wonder how long they are planning to close it for.

I'm pleased to report it is back in service as normal. Not sure when they fixed the problem.
